Mr. Mark S. Lewis, President and Chief Executive Officer of POISE Foundation,

A native of Pittsburgh, Mark graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor’s degree in accounting.  His career started in public accounting where he spent over 13 years working for Price Waterhouse and Ernst & Young LLP providing auditing and consulting services. He became a Certified Public Accountant in 1991.  He joined POISE in 2002 as President and COO and later appointed to CEO.

He is active in the community serving on and having leadership roles on several boards including: Program to Aid Citizen Enterprise, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Pittsburgh, Scout Reach, Kappa Scholarship Endowment Fund, Support America’s Teachers, and Carlow University President’s Advisory Council.  He has the previous service on the following boards: Urban Youth Action, Community Investment Network, August Wilson Center, Bayer Center for Nonprofit Management, Sustainable Pittsburgh, and Grantmakers of Western PA.  He also served on the public corporate board of EQGP Services LLC, a subsidiary of Equitrans Corporation until the corporation became privately owned.  He is an active member of Deliverance Baptist Church where he is an Elder and serves as Treasurer.  He is a graduate of Leadership Pittsburgh XXII and a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity.

With philanthropy as a central theme and focus, Mr. Lewis is the co-founder of the African American Funders Group, a local group of African Americans working for Foundations or other grantmaking organizations within Pittsburgh.  Mr. Lewis was also instrumental in the founding of the Sankofa Fund of Southwest PA a giving circle currently comprised of African Americans who are pooling their resources of time, talent, and treasure with the purpose of investing in causes that will positively impact Pittsburgh’s Black community.

Mr. Lewis resides in Wilkins Township, PA along with his wife, Michelle.
